sorry for the lack in blogging, i had to wait for my eye to stop being so irritated. its finally stopped hurting so much, and its not blurry anymore so i can see properly again.

i don’t really have much to talk about really but i did want to blog because i skipped a couple of days and if i keep skipping i’ll fall back into that rut of not blogging.

recently i began one of my annoying OCD tasks that always ends up taking up a ton of my time and drives everyone around me mad. once in a while i will get this uncontrollable itch to organize something, and this time it ended up being my gigantic mp3 collection. i am now sorting them alphabetically by artist, and each song is placed in an album folder inside the artists folder. the album folders are each getting an album cover and this is probably going to go on for weeks because i have an enormous collection and i have to go find covers for everything.

i’m also taking the time to tag them correctly and that started out as a wild hunt for software that tagged as i wanted and didn’t break tags. i used to use “the god father” but that was super old and abandoned, i then found something called metaogger, but for some weird reason it was messing up the tags and making them not sort correctly in foobar2000. finally i found a really good free program called “MP3tag” which works perfectly and allows me to add album covers to each mp3. i’m only on the B’s right now.. but thankfully most of them don’t require much tagging, just album covers, its more the sorting and folders that are taking the majority of my time.

now that my eye is better though… i think its time for more fallout 3

ok not really but i am a wuss when it comes to stuff like this so i’m in a whiney mood. i popped a blood vessel in my right eye and it hurts! i have a big ugly red spot on my eye and it hurts to blink *whines* thankfully i don’t really leave the house much so i don’t have to worry about people seeing my bright red monster eye.

today is my cousin’s 20th birthday and that is so weird to me.. i remember when he was a little boy running around with me and my brother when we were kids. we’ve lost touch over the years, and especially after his father evicted my family from their home, i stopped speaking to that side of the family completely. but i do hope he has a good birthday!

i have no idea what to blog about today, my eye hurts and i think i’m going to just take it easy today.

yesterday really knocked me out. my parents made a big steak dinner for us and i also got cheesecake for dessert!

for presents i received a 24 pack of mt. dew, a framed 45 single of michael jackson’s rock with you, and the sims 3. so now i can finally uninstall the “borrowed” copy and have my own legit copy! yay!

you’re probably all wondering why i got mt. dew for my birthday. well a couple of years ago (for those that are new to this blog) i quit caffeine completely. since i can’t stand the taste of diet caffeine free mt dew, i just quit it cold turkey. but every year for my birthday i buy some as a present to myself. i’m drinking it very slowly, and starting to realize that i’m starting to hate soda! i used to be so hooked on the stuff but now i can’t even seem to finish one can in a reasonable about of time. that’s a good thing really but still, it seems weird.

for my birthday i also had a celebration in second life i spent hours dj’ing, playing my favourite songs, while my friends and i danced, and chatted about all kinds of crazy stuff. the party finally ended at about 6am est, and i slept until the late evening! but it was lots of fun and i am so very greatful for the friends i’ve made.

now its back to work work work, and i have more blogs to write!

most people who know me, know that i really enjoy horror and supernatural stories and movies. ghosts have always intrigued me because from the time i was a young girl, i feel strongly that i have been living in a haunted place. recently i found out about this really awesome blog by Christopher Ransom, author of The Birthing House, which is his own personal ghost story. he’s asking for everyone to share their ghost stories in the comments. i’m about to head over there and write up some of mine! if you have any spooky ghost stories that have happened to you, you should Share Your Ghost Story as well

the honeymoon with my new video card is still going fallout on high works like a dream! still need to test the sims 2 and the sims 3.

my birthday is tomorrow! i will be 28, ugh.. i’m almost 30! how did this happen! i have absolutely no idea what i am going to do for it though.. probably sit on sl and have a party or something *shrug*.

need to make pretty layout but video games are so much fun…

so i really wanted to take some time and recommend this video card that i purchased. except for the little issue where it beat my soundcard into submission its a pretty damn nice card!

my video cards tend to always be NVIDIA cards, but this time i chose an ATI instead because there were no good NVIDIA cards on newegg for agp card slots. my computer is getting pretty old, and the mother board only has pci and agp. the card i got before this one, that sucked, was an NVIDIA but it was a pci card which made it slow.

so today has been the videogame testing day, and so far i’ve been left with my mouth hanging open.

i have never played WoW with 20fps… i never knew it could be so pretty and shiny and FAST. and with most everything set all the way to max in the graphics sliders! i even have shadows!

fallout 3 i haven’t tested to its max capacity because i’m scared lol i don’t want to blow up my computer o.o

second life, i think i mentioned this yesterday… peaking fps of about 15! and in some areas with less prims i got about 30fps! NEVER HAD THAT EVER!

all my games, i’m used to like.. 5 fps max, maybe 7fps… never double digit fps and definitely not when the graphics are at full max.

so yeah, if you have an older machine and are looking for a good video card to make gaming a bit more fun and smoother, you should really check this one out. its this card here. i hope that it and i will have a long loving relationship and that it lasts me until i can buy a new computer lol

ok so now its back to videogames.

i received my new video card no thanks to ups. the driver pulled up into our driveway and proceeded to tell me that he can’t find the box and that it may be on the wrong truck. i shot laser beams from my eyes and slammed the door shut. no.. nimil does not have patience or control over her emotions.

so anyway the dude leaves, but then comes back and i have my mother answer the door because if he has anything else to say about my package being late i will probably eat his face with my spinach salad. but to my happy surprise he handed my mother a large newegg box and gtfo of our driveway.

so the great installing began and that was easy enough. the sucker is huge! the fan gigantic but it all runs silently and fit in nicely without any wiggling. plugs were placed, power turned on and everything installed just fine. damn i forgot to plug in my speakers.. oh well no worry.. plugged them in and went along to test out the new shiny card.

card works well above my expectations. 14fps standing still in second life!!! i have never had that many fps before ever in second life! my usual max with the old video card was about 5fps. and i’m talking about being on ultra setting here (for those of you that don’t play SL, max graphics settings what ever..) ok so standing still did well, i moved, i turned, everything was WONDERFUL! my hair moved like hair! my skirt moved like a skirt! I COULD SEE FOREVER! anyway, gleeful yelping sounds emitted from my room, my parents breathed the sigh of relief, and i frolicked on sl for a bit.

when i decided i wanted music for my frolicking, we had a little bit of a problem. you see the card i got is all fancy and wants you to use it on an hd tv or something, but because i am poor, i just have a good old fashioned lcd monitor. well when i installed the 928734928635928874982347 drivers (i’m serious it took 20 minutes to install all the crap it wanted, including a trial of WoW LOLOLOL), it ATE my onboard sound card! ate it! the driver was deleted, the folder with the sound program in it was gone! i freaked, panicked, fearful googling commenced, some whiney kid mentioned he couldn’t get drivers to work blah blah blah, finally i found a nerd forum with the answer!

and the answer kids, is that when you install something like this, always go to bios…

bios is a scary world that i do not like to go into. its a very blue world where the gui reminds me of an old computer my dad used to let us play on as children. but anyway, i swallowed my fear, entered bios, and changed my onboard soundcard from “auto” to “enabled” and yay! sound! everything is wonderful!

and so now i’m going to go and spend hours playing videogames on high settings and finally finish some things i’ve needed to do since the beginning of this month!

sorry i couldn’t think of a subject. i really dunno what to write about tonight. i’ve been vegging out today playing WoW and messing with addons. my dad got an email from new egg and my video card will be here tomorrow! wheeeee! i sorta just want this day to hurry up and end so i can sleep and wake up to NEW VIDEO CARD!

but of course it won’t i just hope that i’ll be able to use this card unlike the last one.

tonight my mother asked me what a scanner darkley was about and if she would like it LOL! i’m not really sure how to explain that movie, i know that i liked it but seriously, i don’t think she would. so i just said “its a comic book movie and there are drugs” and she said “oh…” i wasn’t exactly trying to scare her away from it but i know what she likes and what she doesn’t like and i’m pretty sure that movie would fall under her “do not want” category of movies… i think my dad rented it on netflix for himself HAH!

ok back to being lazy!

This is something that I’ll definitely be recommending to my parents! They rent a lot of Netflix videos but our package also includes the ability to watch some movies online. I watch them on my laptop, but my parents never use them. The reason for this is that they prefer to watch movies on their huge TV in the living room, instead of sitting at the pc or watching them on a laptop. That’s where the Roku digital video player comes in handy! With this small box, you can access Netflix and Amazon video on demand right at your TV! How cool is that? It looks really simple to use, which means my parents could set it up easily without needing my help Not to mention it can connect to the internet wirelessly, so it could hook up to our router without having to string wires half way across the living room! Oh and its definitely affordable! I think I might save up and get them one for their birthday’s in October. That would be an awesome present.

yayyyyyy my video card has been ordered! my dad is awesome.. the refund hasn’t come though yet but he knew it would be there soon so he told me if i helped him work on a laptop he’s trying to fix he would order it for me! and so i helped, and so he ordered and yayyyyy! i hope this card isn’t crap like the last one.. i have had it with the laptop! ok not for everything but definitely for day to day gaming. i want to go back to using it as an email checker and stuff.

if you didn’t notice, last night i got bored and started playing with my style sheet. using the add on firebug i was able to pinpoint certain sections of the style sheet that were eluding me, so everything looks much more pleasing to my eyes. i know i said i would work on some sort of graphics layout but i HATE using photoshop on this thing.. and also i have no inspiration for what graphics i want to use.

and that’s it for me right now… gonna go be lazy on wow
