i’m hooked on a strange manga recently, called gakuen alice, also known as alice academy in english. its weird, i usually don’t get hooked on manga much these days. anime series yeah maybe, but manga hardly ever.. and especially manga like this.

my usual manga choices have bishie angst ridden men emo-ing and killing people, but this one is slightly light and fun with a little serious stuff underneath. its oddly interesting and i’ve been reading it on and off since yesterday. i’m on volume 2 and according to manga fox there’s 20 volumes so far.. so i have a lot to read.

the whole manga follows elementary school students (see why i say its weird i’m hooked on this?). the main character is a quirky little girl, who’s best friend in the whole world moves away to a school for geniuses and she misses her so much that she goes to find her, eventually ending up enrolling in the school herself. so far there are things in the book that appeal to my inner harry potter fan-girl, as well as just making me smile. i’m only on volume 2 as i said, but i’m already cheering on the main character as she strives to make it though the strange place she has put herself.

anyway its a great read and i definitely recommend it. just be ready to lose a few billion hours because once you start reading it… you don’t wanna stop! *goes back to manga fox now*
