its strange how time works. here we are in june, it still feels like only yesterday that i was saying goodbye to my father back in december. today i am going with my family to visit his grave. those who know me know that this is not an easy task, as even before this, i have been known to have panic attacks in graveyards. i have never been to my favourite grandmother’s grave for the same reason.

i am going armed with my dad’s ipod and possibly my camera and i dunno if i’ll even make it out of the car, but at least i’ll try.

still miss him every day like it was yesterday.

10 Geeky Facts About Nimil:

1. when i was a little kid my dad gave me a commodore vic 20, i asked where the games were and he handed me a thick book of code. i spent many nights writing my own basic video games.

2. i taught myself html when i was a teenager. i didn’t even have a working internet connection, i just went to websites at school and saved source code from people’s sites to a floppy disk, and then went home and used notepad to make html files of my own. i still have copies of most of the old websites i made, which were mostly shrines to marilyn manson and pixel doll sites.

3. i own nearly every sim game created by maxis/EAxis.

4. i love to beta test video games and i sign up for betas constantly.

5. i am a member of second life.

6. when i worked in the electronics department at walmart, everyone else sent people with questions to me because i knew more about tech and video games than the rest of them.

7. my computers are named after computers in anime. my main pc’s name is Beast666 (super computer from x 1999), and my laptop is named Sumomo (chobits character).

8. i read and understood animal farm when i was 10

9. i wrote my first fanfiction when i was 12 years old. it was a star trek TNG mary sue D:

10. i love making mods for games! if a game has an editor available i’ve probably downloaded it. one of these days i’ll get off my ass and finish one.

and there you have it.. i’m not really good at picking my favourite geek girl so i will just tag anyone who would like to pass this award along :D

first off i think i’m changing my “time waster of the moment” to “nimil plays” just cause it shrinks the title down a bit. as always, these are not paid reviews, i do these cause i love games!

so i mentioned a while back that i got a beta key for starcraft II, however i didn’t get to play it much because i got busy with some other things that unfortunately ate up my starcraft time. the small amount of time that i did get to play was pretty awesome and i came to the realization that i now suck at rts games. i used to kick ass at them but i guess i am out of practice. i lost every match except for the one where the other side pulled out as soon as we entered the match! now this does not mean that i hated the game, but it was just more challenging than i originally remember the first starcraft. of course i didn’t play much against other people on the original so i guess i was just being pitted against more skilled players.

the game its self is really great looking, the graphics are still top down, and a bit small but beautiful all the same. the sound effects were great and as a fan of the protoss i started hearing “we require more minerals” in my sleep.. its kinda like the new “construct additional pylons

so i can’t really properly review this game because first of all it was a beta, so all i got to play with the multi-player function, and secondly because i suck and didn’t spend enough time playing it. however i did enjoy what i got to play and i think if you were a fan of the original starcraft you will enjoy this new one.
