yesterday lucas linked me to a little site that analyzed something written by you and then would tell you what kind of author you wrote like. you could put anything from wedding thank you notes wording, to blog posts, to actual written pieces, and it would tell you an author. well i did it twice. once with one of my blog posts, and once with one of my actual stories, and i got two different answers.

for my blog writing i got Douglas Adams! which was really awesome because i love his stories. for my actual story writing i got J. K. Rowling! which kinda shocked me because i didn’t think i was that good of a writer. so both of those were pretty good results in my opinion, though i am curious what causes my writing style to change between blogging and story writing. i guess it could be the topic, or possibly that my stories are just old and therefore the writing is different than the blogs i write now. (i haven’t actually written anything story-wise in a few years now)

who do you write like? have you tried this little test? did you like your answers or did they end up being an author you don’t actually like? if you haven’t tried it, check the analyzer out here.

  • I tested a few samples. I got different results depending on the blog I posted in and the type of writing. For my review blog, I’m like Bram Stoke. XD I got Margaret Atwood for a few pieces and David Foster Wallace for the most recent entry on Her Realm, Dan Brown for a poem and Chuck Palahniuk for an erotic story. Very interesting!

    • @cole i love that you got chuck palahniuk for a result XD but i am amused that you got it on an erotic story! that must have been one hell of a story :p

  • I too received Dan Brown for a sample of my story I’ve been working on for years… I WANT A COOL AUTHOR DAMMIT!

    • @dez dan brown is pretty cool! or maybe i just like weird books >_>

  • Apparently my latest blog, which is prominently bullet points, is similar to the style of H. P. Lovecraft, who I have never heard of but appears to write about blood and gore (two things I hate).

The blog before, which is more “woe is me”, is similar to Arthur C. Clarke, who I have also never heard of but apparently writes sci-fi (not a fan).

    I want JK ROWLING!!

    • @Jane oohh i am jealous.. i am a huge fan of h.p. lovecraft… and arthur c. clarke!
