for those of you not already members of daydreamz.net, we’re currently having a cool event called weblogit, this week’s subject is about our pets. i wasn’t scheduled to write about this topic but i wanted to write about my fur-kid dorien anyway.
this is dorien grey as a kitten waaayyy back in 2003, he was only a few weeks old when i took this picture. not long after this, he developed some kind of strange stomach bug which made him a 24/7 diarrea machine
sorry for being gross but he seriously was going to poop himself to death. at one point it got so bad we finally took him to a vet, and she gave me some anti-biotics that i had to feed him every few hours though a syringe. we kept him under a laundry basket so he wouldn’t roam around pooping on stuff and i fed him the meds untill he finally got better.
this is dorien grey now, a huge fat kitty who is more picky than i am! he’s a complete baby and will yowl at you until you do exactly what he wants. every so often he stakes out a new spot in the house which he claims as his own
currently he has made the washer and dryer his home but i don’t have a photo of that :p. dorien is 8 years old and has survived several house moves and is always there when i need him. its strange to see how he’s grown from the tiny hand sized kitten who i nicknamed sir poops-a-lot into this giant lion of a cat who likes to crush me with his weight if he lays on me.
dorien was born in a litter of 2. he and his sister, vera lynn were babies of my pervious cat, lillith, who died a few years ago. his sister was hard to deal with and i opted not to bring her with me when my ex and i split up. as far as i know she still lives up there with his mother. dorien and vera lynn were named after things my dad liked, because when they were born my dad was sick and i wanted some comfort, so i named them after the singer, vera lynn, who sings “till we meet again” (which was played at my father’s funeral), and dorien grey, which was one of my dad’s favourite books.
dorien’s mother was a calico cat, and as he grew up i’ve noticed that when he sheds his fur changes colours from blue grey in the winter, to a grey/brown in the summer.
i have no idea what else to write about, so i’ll end this blog here. hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little about my fur-baby.

He looks like he’s royal or something. Quite a beautiful color of a fluffball. I’m glad that you were able to nurse him back to health as a kitten :D. That’s really something to remember.
