dad's birthday pie

every year for my father’s birthday, he had a special pie made. its a tradition that started when he was a child and we continue it this year without him.

its basically a lemon meringue pie without the meringue, double the lemon pie filling part, and nilla waffers instead of pie crust. i messed up on the bottom and some of the cookies from the bottom ended up floating up top.

dad's birthday pie

since there is no real crust to hold it together, its messy and looks more like pudding in a bowl.

i will make it every year for the rest of my life and share it with my someday family.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PlayStation MOVE. All opinions are 100% mine.

A couple of days ago I went to best buy with my brother and sister-in-law and got to play with the Playstation®Move controller. It was the first time I’d ever had the opportunity to play with a movement sensor videogame controller but it was so very easy to figure out!

It would be awesome to own a Move, especially with my family, because we have a huge tv in the living room and we could all get together and play games. Even mom could easily figure out the controller and join in! She’s always feeling left out because she isn’t really good at videogames, but I’m pretty sure we could find plenty of fun puzzles and family games for her to play with us.

I hadn’t realized how many games were available for the Move, but looking though the list I was pleasantly surprised to see a game I’ve been dying to play. Little Big Planet 2. I seriously want a Playstation®3 just for that game alone! But coupled with the Move? That would make it even more fun! I also saw Dance Dance Revolution on the list, which is one of my favourite games, and also a great source of exercise. I also saw some other popular titles I’d love to try with the Move controller, like Resident Evil 5, and Heavy Rain.

Right now there’s a Move bundle package for only $99 to bring motion gaming to your existing PlayStation®3, and with Christmas just around the corner, its the perfect time to think about grabbing one!

I still need to get a PlayStation®3, but once i do I’m definitely going to think about getting a Move as well.

today would have been my father’s 60th year. we visited his grave today and it was well.. meh… this stuff doesn’t seem to be getting any easier. i am still missing him as much as I did when he first died. does it ever stop hurting? all of this really just sucks and i feel like a whiney baby but i can’t help it.

later tonight i’m going to make his special birthday pie. he always had a lemon pie that is almost like lemon meringue pie but without the meringue. and instead of graham crackers it has nilla waffers for crust. its really good and very tart. its one of my favourite desserts.

and that’s about it really… dunno what else to say. i miss him and this sucks.

moving day

no we’re not moving out of our home but moving is going on. my brother and his wife have moved out into their own place finally, so mom and i have been shuffling the house around. we’re not done yet, but i hope by tomorrow we’ll have it all back in order. i’ll be moving back into my big bedroom in the back, and she’ll be moving into the room that was her’s and dad’s when i was a kid.

this means i’ll finally get my desk back and i can stop having backaches from this tiny ass desk in this tiny ass room!

what really sucks right now is that the entire house is a wreck. all our stuff is in the kitchen and living room because we stopped midway though to allow mom to rest and we won’t be starting up again until tomorrow. my urge to arrange everything is driving me insane and i kinda wish she would let me move everything while she sleeps :p

so i was going to pace myself on season 3 of true blood but no.. that didn’t happen :p i finished it earlier today and now i just have to sit like a fiend and wait for more episodes X_x i’m going to start on the books because i like to see the differences between them. kinda wish the seasons ran around this time of the year though, because true blood would be awesome to watch though the halloween season.

speaking of holidays, i went to walmart the other day and yeah they have halloween stuff out, but they’re also starting on thanksgiving and xmas decorations too! and mom asked me if i can make xmas cards and get them printed at a site like 123print. hello? am i the only person who celebrates halloween anymore?? why does it seem like every year the stores push out the xmas stuff a little sooner every year? are they going to start selling xmas trees in july soon?

blah its late and i’m rambling! going to see if i can find sookie stackhouse books for my ipod e-reader and call it a night. feel free to recommend me specific books. i know there’s a ton of them.

i’m a true blood fan! there i’ve said it! i finally gave in and started watching the show from the beginning over the weekend. honestly when i started watching i had my doubts. i really REALLY don’t like sookie. i think she’s annoying. i’m told she’s less annoying in the books so maybe its just anna paquin, cause meh.. i don’t really like her >_> (she made a horrible rogue.. sorry).  however after a few episodes i completely just got hooked. i love the story, i love that there’s a bunch of super naturals in the story! not just vampires and werewolves. i love eric XD who doesn’t seriously.. dayum…

i’m just starting season 3 but i’m going to pace these since the new season doesn’t start until next year. its fun to be hooked on a tv show again! after i finish season 3 i’m probably going to start reading the books as well. i was kinda disappointed at the sudden popularity of vampires recently but this show has honestly rekindled my love with them.

my childhood fears were numerous, and some of them i look back on and laugh. i was afraid of.. well.. everything! my imagination as a child was, i guess you could say, over-active. i would spook myself so much with ordinary things that it would just grip me in terror.

i was afraid that construction equipment could come to life and rip my family’s car off the road. i have absolutely no idea how i came up with this fear but i was terrified any time we drove past a crane or a large bulldozer.

when i was very young i was afraid of mannequins. i had told myself they were real people who were trapped. they scared me so bad that when we went into stores with them i would hide inside the shopping cart, under my mom’s coat or a blanket or what ever i could in order to keep from seeing them. i was convinced that if they made eye contact with me that i would be turned into one.

i used to love having posters on my wall however i could not change clothes in my room because i could not stand knowing they could “see” me. i was horrified that i was being looked at by them.

somewhere in life i developed a huge fear of robotics and AI which still has me in its grasp today. the only thing that i can think of that might have caused this fear is seeing the bionic woman take her face off when i was little. because of this i was unable to stand watching some cartoons and movies that a lot of people love. i did manage to sit though all of the starwars movies and the matrix but to me it was like a horror film is to most. i once tested the limits of this fear by going on the terminator 3d experience at universal studios. that was the worst idea ever and i am still haunted by its memory today.

there are many more things but writing them all down would be a novel.

most of my childhood fears were the result of watching a movie i shouldn’t have as a kid. however it was never scary movies that started these fears. i think the construction equipment fear may have been a result of seeing the transformers, but i’m not sure. the mannequin fear probably came from catching a glimpse of the mannequin movie as a kid and not understanding what was going on. frankly i do not know.

i took me a long time to break though these fears, childish as they sound, i still had some of them when i was a teen and as i mentioned before, robots still scare the living daylights out of me.
