today i ordered mom’s xmas present! i am very excited and cannot wait for it to get here i am so thankful for the people who donated to help me pay for this thing. i honestly did not expect anyone to toss me even a cent but the fact that it was raised in 2 days time just blew me away. it really shows that people who barely, or don’t know you, can be giving.

the kindle should be here in a week or so, and then i’m going to play with it first so i know how it works, then fill it with mom’s favourite books, and give it to her

thanksgiving went well. we were able to make everything without killing each other or blowing up the house. my mini pies came out great, but the picture i took of it came out crap.

they were awesome and now they’re all gone D: but we ended up with enough to make more so i just need to go buy more tiny pie crusts and then we can have them again!

now that thanksgiving is out of the way, i just have to get though xmas. i made it though black friday without even batting an eyelash. mom’s gift money is on its way from paypal to bank and then i’ll be ordering her kindle from amazon asap. i snagged myself a copy of tropico 3 and expansion pack during the steam sale, and i also ordered some chocolate covered cherry flavoured lip balm from my second life friend’s esty shop! you should check it out if you like lip balm, she’s making some awesome yummy stuff. i will review it once i get it

i have a half finished layout for this place sitting on my hard drive that i need to finish up. i’m really starting to get sick of this one.

its early and i’m still sick but by gods i am watching the macy’s day parade like i used to as a little kid. usually i’m too lazy to wake up this early but i did my best to sleep last night in order to wake up in time

i’m doing my best to have a good thanksgiving this year. my cold has finally started to go away and i’m feeling a bit better. so i’ll actually be able to taste the damn food. mom is going to assist me in making this pie that lucas found for me when we were looking for a pumpkin pie mom could eat (she’s diabetic).

of course there are memories that creep in around this time of year. last year november and december were two months of hell. mom had her stroke last year the day before thanksgiving, refused to go to the hospital, and managed to make thanksgiving dinner for us before we finally convinced her to see someone. she made it though with minor issues, thankfully, but it was still a very shocking experience. of course december was the month my dad died. i’m trying not to dwell on it too hard, because i know he would want me to spend my time enjoying life, not mourning him forever.

so i’m watching the parade and waiting to see which balloon deflates. and i can’t wait to try that pie >_<

i wrote down my wishlist but only got a couple of responses so i was curious what you guys want for xmas! i saw some great gift ideas on the wishlists that were in my comments and it makes me want to add more to mine

some of the ideas included donating to charity,personal web hosting, basic stuff like blankets and stuff for the home, etc. my list was a bit out there, but i couldn’t come up with anything basic i need. so all my ideas were frivolous extras that i can’t get for myself. i should have thought about the charity donation thing though. that would be an awesome gift too.

my mom just wants a kindle, and that’s what i’m planning to get her. i’ve gotten a few donations already! i am blown away by the kindness of strangers who have stepped up to help me get this gift for her. if you’d like to help, the chip in for her is in the sidebar! xmas still has bad memories attached to it, because of last year with dad’s death, but i’m trying to do everything i can to make things better this year during the holiday season. so any help would be very appreciated.

so another adventure in the world of making food. yesterday i decided to make pancakes, even though i was starting to feel quit ill (and am now in bed with a high fever and awful cough). i dragged out the ingredients and set off on my journey to learn how to make something new.

i have learned that i should stick to baking. cooking things in pans seems to be far from my grasp still.

i made a mess, a very very big mess. my pancakes came out in chunks because i could not get them to stay round, i think our stove is tilted a bit due to old floor, and so it kept wanting to go to the side of the pan. i think i also used a pan that was way too large for what i was trying to achieve. and i’m too impatient and kept wanting to go ahead and flip the pancakes before their time.

the pancakes themselves, while not visually appealing, came out pretty good. not burnt like i worried they would be. nice and golden and fluffy. i was pretty impressed with myself because the directions i used were based on making a large number of pancakes but i was able to size down the ingredients needed to make 2 pancakes, or what would have been 2 pancakes if they had stayed together.

so my question to you, cooking people, how the hell do you get them to be round? lol am i just out of luck or is there some trick i’m not familiar with here??

i meant to put this on my wish list but i forgot until just now! i would love to have some funny tees from a cool place like supergoodtees.com. i usually wear mens t shirts in extra large, and i like to collect ones with snarky sayings on them yeah that’s a british site but there are of course ones you can get in america as well.

earlier today my sister-in-law calls me up and says “hey wanna go see harry potter at midnight?” FUCK YES I DO! and so we bundled up and headed out for a night of nerding it up at our local theater. being that we are both a bit brokeass, we smuggled in drinks and food from the local gas station. it wasn’t the first time i’d done that but it had been a while and i was nervous. thankfully i have a large trench coat so we made it though without alerting anyone to the presence of our gas station snacks

the movie was great. as usual some parts were kinda off and weird compared to the book but all in all a great movie and i so totally cried at the same damn scene i cried at in the book D: i am so lame.

there was also a trailer for TRON! it looks amazing… exactly what TRON should have been all those years ago. i’m hopefully going to see that with my brother and sis –in – law in 3d when it comes here!

its been a while since i’ve been to a theater, i really wish i got to go more.

finally i’ve found a tv show that doesn’t require vampire softcore porn to get me hooked :p. yesterday lucas and i started watching The Event on hulu and i think perhaps i have finally found a show that fills the void in my heart that LOST left me with when the show ended. i don’t want to talk too much about it of course, because i do not want to spoil! but holy crap this show is good. if you like tv shows that make you stare at the screen and go whaaaaat??????? after the credits start up, then this is a show for you. i hope this one doesn’t get canned like flashforward did >_< i loved that show and i was really getting into it and then BAM dead. but since there is no more LOST to compete with, perhaps it has a better chance.

i’m also interested in seeing The Walking Dead, which i’ve heard a few people talk about, but since i missed the first episode i decided to wait and let hulu pick up a few episodes. the sucky part? hulu only has rights to the first episode >_< so now i have to find it via other means… UGH.. maybe AMC will have a rerun night. it sounds very interesting and who am i to turn down anything with zombies in it?

ok so i’m still not really watching tv on the actual tv but hey its been a while since tv shows actually caught my eye besides LOST so that’s pretty cool. need more good tv and less of this reality show crap!
