happy birthday mtv
mtv is nothing like it was when it first started out, and that honestly makes me sad. i was born the same month, and year as mtv, and basically was raised on it. the way it is now, i’d never let a kid sit in front of the tv with that channel on it, as they would be exposed to some rather disgusting television, but when i was a kid it was amazing.
in honor of mtv’s birthday, i give you the first music video that i can remember watching as a child.

It is much the same here in Canada with our equivalent to MTV. Much Music was something I enjoyed watching, and it introduced me to a lot of great music over the years. But for the most part, they run the same pseudo-Reality TV shows and the like…but things have changed recently….and they have started playing Music Videos again! Not enough for me to consider getting Cable or SatTV…but when I visit people who do have it, and we zip through the channels, I am occasionally seeing music videos!
