well i spent this week catching up on all things world of warcraft, and i have to say it was very much fun. pretty much the only enjoyable thing i did this week was play with the free 7 days that blizzard gave me. i am definitely sold on playing the game again someday when i have a steady income.

i was able to level up my warrior main for a bit AND i leveled up a death knight which i wanted to make for a long time! there were a few things i didn’t get to see because i don’t have the cataclysm expansion pack, but for the most part it was fun.

i did have one annoyance, scammers im’ed me once a day, always on level 1 orc hunters. they would say “hi!” in an im and i would say hello, thinking eh maybe someone wants to run a dungeon but no.. they would always reply with “would u like to make some world of warcraft money today???” and then i would report them for spamming. the last one to do it only got a “hi!” out before i told them not to bother.

all in all it was a fun week on world of warcraft, and i am sad to let it go :( i’ve applied at a bunch of places for jobs and i am praying someone calls me back… because we really need the money.

7 days

blizzard offered me another 7 days free of world of warcraft, so me being the bored little mmo addict i am, decided to sit though the long ass reinstalling process and play a bit of WoW.

WORST IDEA EVER!

ok not really, i mean its enjoyable but i am so lost! :( my last time on this character was a couple of years ago. the quests i was doing on her are no longer there, and of course cataclysm has changed up the entire world.

so i feel like a total noob T_T

i am definitely going to get back into wow once my financial situation is stable. i have missed this game so much! i just need to buy the new expansion pack and some game time and get back into it.

i was able to level up kilalya quite a bit in the 2 days i’ve been playing. started at level 53 and now she’s level 57! i even hopped though the dark portal which i’ve never had the chance to do before! (yes i’m late on everything…)

to end this blog post, here’s a picture of kilalya standing in front of the dark portal like a goofy tourist.

its nearing the end of the month and i’m kicking myself a little bit for falling out of the routine i tried to set up for myself at the beginning of the year. i will jump back into it in feb though, as i plan to stick with this stuff. mostly i got sick and so i got lazy and i haven’t been doing what i should be doing every day. goofing off is bad!

the other day i was bored and looking at old website stuff i have on a disk. i found old layouts from the domain i used to own a few years ago. it made me miss it a bunch! i even did a domain name check and found that its still available! maybe when i can get a decent paycheck i’ll buy it again :D

still working on those ideas for my videogame blogging. i looked into streaming gameplay on a site like justin.tv but i don’t have a good upload speed so my game is lagged. so i guess lets play style videos are my only way of doing things. no live game casts from me :( now i just have to figure out what game i want to record me playing. THAT is the hard part.

oh yeah and i need to finish that layout gah!

i was given the opportunity to beta test the upcoming mmorpg “RIFT” yesterday, and while the game still has a little while before it comes out to the general public, i would definitely recommend it! i only played a few hours yesterday (and i’m sure i’ll play a few more today later) but i was BLOW AWAY. honestly.. i have played so many mmorpgs that they sort of… run together. they are mostly the same. this game, is taking it to a whole new level. there is so much to see and do, and its a little overwhelming.

the game puts you at the end of a world. a demon like creature is destroying everything. there are two factions, the guardians, and the defiants. i chose a defiant because well.. the name was cool. though both sides are striving for the survival of the world, they really dislike each other, so you have a faction war to deal with as well as saving everything. the guardians were chosen by the gods and the defiants chose a more technological way of doing things.

i don’t want to give away too much, story-wise or anything, so i’m not going to talk much about it for now! it is a great game though, so i do recommend checking out a beta test if you can get in, or buy the game when its out for sale!

here are some photos from my beta test journey:

ok i know its been a long time since i did a "nimil plays" blog, but that’s because i’ve been trying to figure out a way to write these better! the truth is, i’m no good at reviewing stuff, especially videogames. because i start a game, and then i put it aside for months before i finish it or get anywhere significant enough to really do a review. not to mention, i’m broke :p so i end up reviewing old games and games that aren’t really popular or interesting to people besides me.

i’m honestly thinking of doing lets play style videos and uploading them on youtube. i’m not sure if this will work out, or if i will do more than one but its an idea for the future! if you’ve never watched a lets play video, they’re basically a set of videos where someone plays a videogame, and you get to watch. i’m a big fan of them myself, but i’ve never done one. i’m not really even sure what i should do for a lets play. they look fun though, so we’ll see.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PlayStation MOVE. All opinions are 100% mine.

A couple of days ago I went to best buy with my brother and sister-in-law and got to play with the Playstation®Move controller. It was the first time I’d ever had the opportunity to play with a movement sensor videogame controller but it was so very easy to figure out!

It would be awesome to own a Move, especially with my family, because we have a huge tv in the living room and we could all get together and play games. Even mom could easily figure out the controller and join in! She’s always feeling left out because she isn’t really good at videogames, but I’m pretty sure we could find plenty of fun puzzles and family games for her to play with us.

I hadn’t realized how many games were available for the Move, but looking though the list I was pleasantly surprised to see a game I’ve been dying to play. Little Big Planet 2. I seriously want a Playstation®3 just for that game alone! But coupled with the Move? That would make it even more fun! I also saw Dance Dance Revolution on the list, which is one of my favourite games, and also a great source of exercise. I also saw some other popular titles I’d love to try with the Move controller, like Resident Evil 5, and Heavy Rain.

Right now there’s a Move bundle package for only $99 to bring motion gaming to your existing PlayStation®3, and with Christmas just around the corner, its the perfect time to think about grabbing one!

I still need to get a PlayStation®3, but once i do I’m definitely going to think about getting a Move as well.

this strange game has been sweeping across the gamer scene for a while now. usually it costs 13$ for this game but recently the creator had to disable the majority of his site because the game just got too popular for his server to handle. he says the site should be back to normal tomorrow, tuesday the 21st, however until then its free for everyone to check out!

i’ve played with the minecraft client on the website, which is nothing like the game you purchase, but its really a lot of fun. i’ve been playing with the free download of minecraft for a day now and while i personally don’t see a reason to pay 13$ for something where i just mine all day and build things with pixel blocks, it does kinda get addicting and a lot of people are loving it. i’d probably pay for it if it was a little cheaper.

there is a multi-player option but its still in alpha stages, lots of people have started up private servers though, and you can get together with friends and build and mine and kill zombies :D

if you want to check out minecraft for yourself just follow this link to the website where the download links are available. please remember that this game will not be free for much longer, and you will have to buy an account to keep playing after the site comes back up and resumes normal operation.

i wrote a few posts back about my frustration with this game not working as well as it should on my computer. i have spent a long time combing forum after forum for an answer and still i don’t really have one. i have noticed though, that after the innitial lagging stuttering mess when i exit the safe house, if i stand around and walk around and then drive around a little before i do anything, the lag and stutter disappear. why is this happening? i have no idea. my problem does not seem to match the other complaints about graphic stuttering, as most of those are related to ATI cards or stuttering after playing for a certain amount of time.

its almost like my game needs to warm up before i can actually begin playing it for real, and while that kinda sucks, it is playable after i get past that lagging at the beginning. i was able to play for about 3 hours this morning and finished quite a few missions without the awful stutter!

game wise i really love this game, so i’m still kinda disappointed in the trouble i’ve had with it, but now that its playable i am sure i’ll be playing the hell out of it!

i’m pretty disappointed with my recent purchase from steam. i decided to grab grand theft auto iv since i’ve always loved the series and figured the newest would be pretty awesome what with the multi player option and everything.

much to my dismay, this game DOES NOT WORK! i know i’m pretty damn stunned. running this machine for a couple of months i’ve pretty much found that no game is too much for this thing. i run all games on full graphics ultra settings etc, with no trouble at all.

unlike other games gta IV is a stuttering mess. and the crazy part is that when i played it immediately after the steam download finished it played perfect it was smooth, and i could run around and drive around with no issues. this was on the auto config graphics settings which put me on high and very high settings.

i went to bed and when i woke up and decided to play again, the game was way more choppy than it was before. it takes 4 seconds to go from the apartment to the world outside. it should be effortless and was effortless in my first playthough after purchase.

the world outside of the apartment was even worse. i could not walk nor drive without this sticky stutter which caused me to crash several times. the game acted as if i was on a crap computer when i am on a pretty high end machine and way beyond the recommended specifics for this game.

looking for an answer to my problem has not been simple (and i still do not have a solution after 2 days of fighting with this game) most of the forums where people have asked about this game have been told that the game won’t run because they don’t have the right hardware or sometimes just jackass posturing of "oh you’re using this card, that sucks" or "this processor is shit" nothing that actually gives a solution at all. i did check official forums and found some tweeks to try and none of them worked. i have added my voice to the large base of users who cannot get this game to run even with the right kind of computer to run it.

all in all disappointment. it was so much fun to play that first night. i want my preformance back!

here are some threads you can check out if you are having similar issues to mine. some people said it helped them. so it might help you where it hasn’t helped me.

this thread comes from rockstar NYC its self and gives some console commands to try, this is also the thread i’ve posted my issue in.

this thread gives some alternative suggestions to try. none of these suggestions worked for me but it seems to have helped others so check it out as well.

and if anyone has any advice for how to make this game work, please let me know because i’m pretty upset that i’ve spent money on something i can’t use.

(disclaimer: not a paid advertisement for raptr, just wanted to spread the word about this cool service)

i’m one of those geek chicks who likes to display every damn thing she does on the web somehow, and i’m always looking for sites to do just that.to me it’s fun to see how far i’ve progressed in a game and show that stuff to other people as well.

i’ve tried a few sites, but i’ve only found one that seems to work consistently, and does all that i want it to do, and that site is raptr!

raptr is a desktop client and website which allows you to track your gaming history, and it can be used as an instant messenger replacement which also allows in-game messages in most games (not unlike the built in functions of steam, or the xfire client). but what i really like about raptr is that i can announce my gaming on my twitter and my facebook! people can see when i unlock new achievements and what game i’m currently playing. i think that’s pretty cool and that’s one of the big features i was looking for.

i’m sure there are other cool things about raptr but to be honest that’s all i’m using it for! i don’t really need a messenger program, as i do not like to talk while i’m gaming :p but i guess it would be nice to have for some situation in the future. the stats on the website are very cool and it even catalogues your games so you can see every single game you own.. (and wow i never realized i had so many games O_o)
